Celebrating the magic of reading—and music

by Chrisie Wendin on May 1, 2010

Young musicians from Encinal and Oak Knoll’s Orff music ensembles performed for a large crowd gathered outside of Kepler’s this morning as part of Celebrate the Magic of Reading. The community event, in its sixteenth year, is a partnership between the book store and the Friends of the Menlo Park Library. The festivities will continue until 3:30 pm today and also feature lively performances by the orchestras from Encinal, Oak Knoll, and Hillview schools, in addition to the Menlo-Atherton Jazz and Concert Bands.

The annual showcase is a great opportunity to check out the talented local kids, but the event also hopes to lure you to do some shopping. Kepler’s will donate a portion of the proceeds from book sales to the Belle Haven Library. (Don’t forget to mention, “It’s for the library,” at checkout.)
