Learn why invasive grasses are fueling desert wildfires

by Linda Hubbard on August 26, 2010

USGS senior scientist and desert ecologist Julio Betancourt is giving a public lecture this evening (8/26), Invasives and Wildfires in the West: New crossroads in science, policy and management. He’ll look at why the exponential spread of non-native grasses is a pressing environmental issue in American Deserts and how these grasses are the culprit in large wildfires in desert scrub. The lecture, which is free of charge and open to the public, will take place at USGS Conference Room A, Bldg 3 at 7:00 pm.
