Mental health advocate at La Entrada on April 1

Author and mental health advocate Julie K. Hersh will speak and lead a discussion at La Entrada School on Friday, April 1 at 10:00 am. The author of Struck by Living, Hersh’s topic is Protecting Mental Health in a Hectic World. The event is free and open to the community.
“Despite medical advances, too many people die by suicide because they are afraid to seek help,” Julie says. She draws from her personal experience; she attempted suicide three times and credits ECT (electroconvulsive therapy) as breaking “the deadly course of her disorder.” Her goal it to provide a living example, demonstrating that mental illness is a manageable disease.
Julie blogs on Psychology Today and is a guest blogger for Say No to Stigma for Menninger Clinic.
