Winemaker turned social media expert speaks on April 4

by Linda Hubbard Gulker on March 31, 2011

Author and winemaker Gary Vaynerchuk is speaking about his new book, The Thank You Economy, his experiences in his family’s wine business, and the use of social media to connect with customers on Monday, April 4 at 5:30 pm in the new Roy Kepler Pavilion at Kepler’s Books (1010 El Camino.)

Vaynerchuk contends that the people and companies harnessing the word-of-mouth power provided by multiple platform media – and those that can shift their outlook and operations to be more customer-aware and fan-friendly – will pull away from the pack and profit in today’s markets.

After primarily utilizing traditional advertising techniques to build his family’s local retail wine business into a national industry leader, he leveraged social media tools such as Twitter and Facebook to promote Wine Library TV, his video blog about wine.

Admission requires purchase of a $10 gift card which may be redeemed towards the purchase of The Thank You Economy or future purchases. The event is sponsored by Hometown Peninsula, Web Lunchbox, and Kepler’s Books.
