San Francisco-based chef and author Joanne Weir, noted for her around the world cooking classes, travels to Menlo Park on Thursday, June 30 where she’ll offer Cooking with Kids at 7:00 pm in the City Council chambers. The Friends of the Library sponsored presentation is suitable for adults and children ages eight and up.

Weir is a James Beard Award wining cookbook author as well as chef and TV personality, where students and viewers learn how to prepare wine country- and city-inspired recipes. Her first book, From Tapas to Meze (Crown, 1994,) was selected by Julia Child as one of her 12 personal favorites out of 1000 cookbooks published that year. She’s since published more than a dozen books, the latest titled TEQUILA: A Guide to Types, Flights, Cocktails and Bites.

In addition to teaching cooking classes in her home kitchen, she teaches in France, Italy, Morocco, and Spain. She writes: “My approach to cooking can be wrapped up in three words – simple, seasonal, and local.”
