The City of Menlo Park’s Environmental Quality Commission invites nominations from community members for the 2011 Environmental Quality Awards. Awards are given for people, projects, efforts or property designs that contribute to environmental quality improvement in Menlo Park.

Award nominations are due by Monday, January 16th. The nomination form can be downloaded from the Environmental Quality Commission’s website at

In 2010, awardees included Boy Scout Troup 109 for a permanent orienteering course and signage along the Great Spirit Path at Bedwell Bayfront Park (Daniel and Philipp Kopisch pictured) and the VanIngen Residence for home improvements which resulted in a preliminary Green Point Rating of 254 points, one of the highest in the State.

Nominations must include when the effort took place, the results, the community impact and the environmental significance. Nominations for development awards can apply to an effort within the last two years. Award categories include: Climate Action, Educational, Heritage Tree, Landscape or Native Habitat, Resource Conservation and Sustainable Building.
