Menlo School seniors organize fashion show fundraiser for Haven House – and you can help by donating clothes

by Linda Hubbard on May 11, 2012

We received an email from Menlo School senior Kara Rosenberg (left in photo) this morning about a fashion show fundraiser for Haven House she is organizing with fellow senior Alexandra Douglas (pictured with Kara). One thing they’re asking for is donations of kid’s clothing. Here are more details in Kara’s words:

“For the month of May when classes have ended, each senior at Menlo School is given the opportunity to design and complete a project. I am working with my friend Alexandra Douglass to put on an event —  Runway of Hope —  to benefit Haven House (part of Shelter Network) on May 18 at 7:30 pm in the Menlo School gymnasium. Tickets will be sold at the door.

“Haven House provides shelter for displaced and homeless families while they are trying to get back on their feet. The event will be a fashion show, in which kids from Haven House families will participate. This is a community event and everyone is invited to come.

“The clothes the kids will be modeling will all come from donations —  and we could use more clothing. The deadline is Monday; people can contact runwaytohope@gmail.com if they’d like to donate clothing. The kids who model get to keep the outfit after the show, so the donations will be greatly appreciated by all the families staying at Haven House. Cash donations towards outfits are also greatly appreciated! We also need donations for our raffle and for food that will be served that night, if people prefer to get involved that way.”
