Looking at Hawaii in Monochrome

Lone Tree - Parker Ranch - 2013

When we think of photos taken in Hawaii, those colorful picture postcard-like images are what usually come to mind. On a recent vacation visit to the big island of Hawaii, I veered off in a different direction – looking for opportunities to portray the island in monochrome.

These images were all shot using a Nikon D600 and post-processed in Photoshop with Nik’s Silver Efex Pro 2 to convert to monochrome. Click on each image to see a larger size version.

I seem to have been in a monochrome mood lately! You can find more examples on my personal blog at SJL.US.
