Registration open for May 2 talk on The Culture of Perfectionism
The M-A Parent Education Series on May 2 features Ana Homayoun, M.A.. talking about “The Culture of Perfectionism.” Ms. Homayoun is the founder of Green Ivy Educational Consulting and author of That Crumpled Paper Was Due Last Week and the newly-released book, The Myth of the Perfect Girl: Helping our Daughters Find Authentic Success and Happiness in School and Life.
In her new book, she sheds light on the challenges facing teens today in light of today’s ever-increasing mix of technology, socialization, and learning. In the current achievement-based culture, many of teens are doing remarkably well, excelling in honors classes and sports and attending top colleges in ever greater numbers. But beneath the surface, many are stressed-out, overwhelmed, and burnt-out as they strive to achieve an unobtainable sense of “perfection.”
Kepler’s Books, a Community Partner of the M-A Parent Education Series, will offer copies of The Myth of the Perfect Girl at the event.
Registration for this free event, sponsored by the Menlo-Atherton PTA and the Sequoia Healthcare District, is available online. Simultaneous Spanish interpretation will be offered.
