Recent human evolution as revealed by Neanderthals is Café Scientifique talk on June 11

This talk will be given by Ed Green, Assistant Professor, University of California Santa Cruz, Baskin School of Engineering, on Tuesday, June 11, from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at SRI International in Menlo Park (Middlefield Road at Ringwood Ave.).
Our closest extinct relatives are the Neanderthals. Advances in DNA sequencing technology have made possible learning the complete genome sequence from Neanderthals that have been extinct for tens of thousands of years.
Green will discuss this technology and how we use the Neanderthal genome in contrast to our own to discover what evolutionary changes have happened in our recent past.
