by Timi Most on June 19, 2013

On Saturday, June 22, from 4:00-5:30 pm, Christ Church Portola Valley (815 Portola Road, Portola Valley) will present a free concert with renowned modernist organist Carson Cooman benefiting My New Red Shoes. This family friendly concert will be followed by a wine and appetizer reception including free childcare and children’s activities. Donations and donated shoes are gratefully accepted following these guidelines.

This concert of contemporary music benefiting My New Red Shoes will not only be a delightful summer event but will assist in providing Bay Area homeless and very low income children with brand new shoes and clothes for their first day of school. My New Red Shoes is a non-profit founded in Menlo Park by Heather Hopkins that helps homeless and low-income children look and feel confident as they start the school year. It provides them with new clothing and shoes while rallying youth and adults through volunteer and educational opportunities for individuals, families, schools, corporations, and community groups.

Carson Cooman is a highly acclaimed organ recitalist and composer specializing primarily in new music. His programs showcase the diversity of organ music from the 20th and 21st centuries. His performance offers a unique opportunity to hear an engaging approach to this classical instrument. We look forward to a wonderful afternoon of music and hope to see you there.
