Las Lomitas Education Foundation raises $2.8 million for 2013-1014 school year

For the first time in its history, the Las Lomitas Education Foundation raised more than $2,000 per student, resulting in $2.8 million in funding for the Las Lomitas School District in the 2013-14 school year.
Writes Foundation President Komal Shah in a letter to parents and supporters: “Importantly, your $2.8 million gift will make a clear and immediate difference in our kids’ education next year.
- First and foremost, we will continue to support 19 teachers at both schools to keep class sizes small.
- We will also maintain our support for the specialists/counselors and the enhanced curriculum, including P.E., music, art and languages at both schools
- For the first time ever, we will enable new technology to support academic excellence for our students at both schools. Technology is transforming how we deliver differentiated instruction to meet the individual needs of our students, and enable communication and collaboration amongst students and teachers. Highlights of our technology investments include 1:1 instruction with iPads for all 6-7-8th graders; iPad Centers in 3-4-5th grade classrooms; Media Lab at La Entrada; and new student computers in the classrooms at Las Lomitas.”
