City of Menlo Park plans 4th of July parade and celebration – MPPD reminds “fireworks prohibited”

The City of Menlo Park’s annual 4th of July celebration begins with a parade at 11:45 am at the Wells Fargo parking lot on Santa Cruz & Chestnut. Kids are encouraged to come dressed in red, white, and blue and decorate their bikes or wagons. The fun continues at Burgess Park directly after the parade from noon to 2:30 pm. Activities will include inflatable jump houses, giant slides, carnival games, crafts, face painting, rock walls, laser tag, and live music by the House Rockers. Food and drink will be for sale; a $7.00 wristband is required for some activities and can be purchased at the parade, the event, or in advance at the Arrillaga Family Gymnasium at 600 Alma Street today from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The Menlo Park Police Department wants to remind the community that all forms of fireworks and gunfire are strictly prohibited in the City of Menlo Park. This includes “Safe & Sane” fireworks. Information on where firework displays are taking place is available in two places online: ABC Local and KidsMatter.
The Menlo Park Police Department quickly responds to reports of the unlawful use and/or possession of fireworks and firearms. Residents can report the unlawful use of fireworks and firearms by calling the police non-emergency number at (650) 330-6300. In the event of an emergency dial 9-1-1.
