Art in Action, a nonprofit dedicated to bringing comprehensive visual arts programs to schools throughout the region, is hosting Object: Art, a fundraising benefit, on Friday, March 27, 2015 at the Computer History Museum in Mountain View, California. The event will include the presentation of the Art in Action Art Visionary Award to Google’s founding doodler Dennis Hwang (pictured) and a silent auction featuring original artwork and exclusive art-themed experiences.

Guests will enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres while bidding on silent auction items of original artwork and exclusive art-themed experiences. Proceeds from the event support curriculum development, teacher and volunteer training and art materials for schools that have limited access to art due to lack of funding. Tickets, priced at $100 each, are available online.

Art in Action created the Art Visionary Award to honor an individual whose work has inspired a culture of art in our society. Hwang is being recognized for his role in creating a culture of visual expression and art appreciation through the Google Doodle initiative. In addition to designing hundreds of doodles himself and building the first Doodle team, Hwang helped start Doodle4Google, an annual art competition which involves thousands of students nationwide and showcases the winner’s creativity on the Google homepage.
