Atherton stages disaster preparedness community event on March 26

On Thursday, March 26 at the Pavilion in Holbrook-Palmer Park (150 Watkins Ave.), the town of Atherton is hosting a disaster preparedness community event.
At 5:30 pm the California Highway Patrol (CHP) will kick it off by landing a helicopter in the grassy area on the left field of the baseball park. Continuing at 6:00 at the Pavilion, there will be some short informational presentations from public safety officials (Police, Fire, USGS).
That will be followed with a “trade show” of sorts with tables set up and manned by an array of emergency prep entities, such as emergency equipment/supply vendors, disaster management experts (Red Cross/USGS), utility companies and community groups (ADAPT – Atherton’s civilian neighborhood organizer and trainer), etc., where residents can get additional preparedness information, buy supplies and talk directly to people who can help you get prepared for a potential disaster. The event will conclude at 8:00 pm.
