Menlo Park Library hosts teen summer events
Saturday, June 6 from 12-2pm: Teen Summer Kick-off: BBQ & Games
Kickoff the Summer with other teens in water games and BBQ food. All food (including dessert!) and water balloons will be provided for. Event takes place at the library’s patio, entrance from the grassy field under the oak tree.
Wednesday, June 17th from 12:30-3pm: Design the Teen Section —Brainstorming
Brainstorm with other teens on how we should redecorate the Teen Section. Lunch included!
Friday, June 19 from 6:30-8:30 pm: Teen Night: Design the Teen Section
Make the Teen Area yours — decorated by teens, for teens! Teens will create some signs, paint some bookends, and more. Hang out with other book lovers and design the section. Come learn what TAG members do. Snacks provided. Registration required.
Friday, July 17 from 6:30-8:30pm: Teen Night: DIY Music Speakers
Learn how to make your own music speakers that can plug into your mp3 player. These will be made out of some recycled materials. Please bring your own personal touches for decoration. Snacks and some art supplies provided. Registration required.
Friday, August 14 from 6:30-8:30pm: Teen Night: Back to School Crafts & Sharpie Tie-Dye
Get ready for school by creating your own decorations and learn how to tie-dye with sharpies! You need to bring your own cloths to tie-dye. Feel free to bring your school supplies. Art supplies and snacks provided. Registration required.
Saturday, August 20 from 2:00-3:30pm: Teen Outside Yoga
Relax before school starts. Join teens for an afternoon of outside yoga. Bring a mat or blanket. Light snacks provided.
Thursdays, June 18, July 23, & July 30 from 12:30-2:00 pm: Summer Book Club – Books To Movies
Love books? Love movies? Join us for book club as we discuss a book that has been made into a movie. The last session will vary in time from the previous sessions depending on the length of the movie. Registration required. Lunch included!
Fridays, June 19, July 17, August 21 from 4-5:30 pm : Magic The Gathering Club
There is a new club in Teen Services. It will be the 3rd Friday of each month, tentatively. No registration required, as you just show up and play. It will be out on the patio. Cards will not be provided, nor will staff be chaperoning.
Saturdays, June 13, July 18, & August 8 from 3:00-4:30 pm: Teen Advisory Group (TAG) Meetings
TAG is a group of teenagers who provide events, contests, and resources for teens at the Menlo Park Library. Our mission is to provide an environment in which teens can express their ideas about how to improve the library. Visit our website for more information on how to join.
