Menlo Park Library kicks off summer reading with party featuring steel drum band

On June 11, the Menlo Park Library will celebrate the onset of summer reading season with a free outdoor party, featuring music and snacks.

Derek Smith’s Pankind Quartet will play Caribbean-style music, while Café Zoe Menlo Park will provide snacks and beverages. Balloon-twisting and free bottles of bubbles will also be a part of the festivities.

Library staff will be at the celebration event to share information about summer reading  programs for kids, teens and adults as well as summer events, will which include a cooking demonstration, puppetry, storytelling, music, poetry, and a wildlife presentation.

The party will take place on Thursday, June 11 from 6:00 to 7:00 pm, on the lawn outside the Menlo Park Library. Guests of all ages are welcome, and are invited to bring blankets or low lawn chairs to enjoy the musical performance. The festivities are sponsored by the Friends of the Menlo Park Library and Café Zoe Menlo Park. More information is available online at the library’s website, menlopark.org/library.
