Menlo Park Kiwanis Club announces speakers through August – public welcome

Every Tuesday, the Kiwanis Club of Menlo Park meets at Allied Arts for its weekly meeting. There is usually a speaker and the general public is invited as long as they make a reservation in advance.

Several speakers from Stanford will cover topics from Concussions & Athletics to the Planned Stanford Plaza at 500 El Camino. Upcoming topics include:

July 28: Scott McBirlney will join us to talk about “Assessing Damage From Napa Earthquake”.

August 4: Joseph Yasutske looks back at “WWII Japanese Internment Camps.”

August 11: Scott Anderson will speak about “Concussions & Athletics.”.He was appointed Director of Athletic Training at Stanford University in 2007.

August 18: Brock Burrell serves as Business Outreach & Development at Downtown Streets Team His talk will explain how his organization addresses and plans to end homelessness with collaboration among social service agencies, government agencies, individual communities, and the private sector.

August 25: Lucy Wicks will talk about the “Planned Stanford Plaza at 500 El Camino”. As Associate Director of Community Relations, she acts as a liaison between Stanford University and community-based organizations, government officials, businesses and individuals located in and around Stanford’s main campus and the new Stanford in Redwood City project area.
