USGS public lecture on July 30 looks at Giant Cascadia Earthquake

The Giant Cascadia Earthquake of January 26, 1700: Detective Stories from North America and Japan is the subject of the next USGS free public lecture to be give by Brian Atwater on July 30 at 7:00 pm. He’ll examine:
- A tsunami from western North America entered Japanese written history in Jan 1700
- Decades of basic research on both sides of the Pacific led to this discovery
- The findings underpin public-safety measures in the United States and Canada
The lecture takes place in Rambo Auditorium/Bldg. 3, 345 Middlefield Avenue in Menlo Park.
