by Frances Freyberg on November 5, 2015

“Painting Local Beauty” — new pastel and oil paintings of the Monterey and San Francisco Peninsulas, as well as other recent works done in Bend, Oregon by artist Jan Prisco — is the featured exhibit at the Portola Art Gallery in November. A reception for the artist will be held on Saturday, November 7 from 1:00 to 4;00 pm at the Gallery (75 Arbor Road inside the Allied Arts Guild).

Capturing the diverse natural beauty around her, Jan paints plein air at locations that range from the oak covered hills of the San Francisco Peninsula, to the flower fields of Half Moon Bay, to the breathtaking ocean views of the Monterey Peninsula and Big Sur. She will be unveiling 15 new paintings at the November exhibit.

Also included in the show will be a small number of paintings done this summer in Bend, Oregon.

Jan is an award-winning artist and for the last four years has taught other artists at multiple venues on the San Francisco Peninsula, including Filoli and University Art. She paints in both pastel and oil mediums, always starting her paintings on location.

More information about Jan’s work is available on her website.
