Sacred Heart Prep plays hard in second state title football game in three years

Sacred Heart Prep (12-3) traveled to San Diego last weekend to take on Rancho Bernardo High School (13-2) for the Division III-A state championship bowl game. The Gators kept the game close until the fourth quarter when the Broncos broke it open, ultimately winning by a score of 35-14.
SHP senior tight end Andrew Daschbach (#20 in photo), playing in the final football game of his three-year varsity career, had seven catches for a total of 167 yards and two touchdowns. Playing defense, he had 10 tackles. Andrew will play baseball for Stanford when he graduates.
“They were a really good football team,” SHP head coach Pete Lavorato said. “There was nothing they did to surprise us. They were just a tough team.”
The game was SHP’s second state title game in three years.
