Local Girl Scout recognized by San Mateo County Board of Supervisors for getting Pulse Point implemented

Serafina Casey, a sophomore at Menlo Atherton High School and a member of Girl Scout Troop 33170, was recognized earlier this week at the San Mateo County Board of Supervisor’s meeting for her participation in getting Pulse Point implemented into the 911 emergency system.
The PulsePoint mobile app alerts CPR-trained bystanders to someone nearby having a sudden cardiac arrest that may require CPR. The app is activated by the local public safety communications center simultaneous with the dispatch of local fire and EMS resources.
Implementing Pulse Point in San Mateo County was Serafina’s Silver Award Girl Scout project. Her Girl Scout leader, Rena Hafeez, supported her work on the project.
