An armed robbery at a convenience store shortly before 11:00 pm last night in Mountain View led to the suspects being chased across Menlo Park.

Initial information indicated that the suspects fled in a white SUV or pickup truck. A responding Mountain View police officer saw a similar white SUV headed north on Hwy 101 and started following the SUV while waiting for backup units to arrive.

Palo Alto police department officers arrived shortly thereafter and tried to pull the car over at Hwy 101 and Willow Rd. The suspect vehicle refused to pull over and attempted to flee from the officers.

The subsequent pursuit went through the city of Menlo Park, where one of the passengers fled from the SUV on foot and into the creek area near Alma and Willow Road. The suspect vehicle continued and stopped near the area of the 100 block San Mateo Dr. The driver and passenger attempted to flee but were quickly apprehended.

A perimeter was set up around the creek area where the first passenger fled. Officers from Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Sunnyvale, Los Altos, and East Palo Alto assisted in the perimeter and search for the suspect, who was not found. He was described as a white or Hispanic light-skinned male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, and black and white tennis shoes. Anyone with information about this suspect is asked to call Mountain View PD Detective Beraha at 650-903-6344.

The driver and passenger detained near the 100 block of San Mateo Dr. — both juveniles — were arrested for robbery.
