Putting drones to work for scientific research is topic of August USGS public lecture

Geographer Jeff L. Sloan of the USGS National Unmanned Systems Project Office will give a free, public lecture on August 25 at 7:00 pm. The title is: The New Eyes in the Sky: Putting Drones to Work for Scientific Research. He address:
- Why is there so much interest in unmanned technology?
- What are the rules to legally fly within the national airspace?
- How does this technology increase safety, lower costs, and lead to the collection of better scientific data?
- Will this technology become a commonly used tool for scientists?
The talk will take place at the Rambo Auditorium/Bldg. 3 at USGS, 345 Middlefield Rd. Menlo Park.
