Extra traffic enforcement in Atherton and Menlo Park on Wednesday, September 21, 2016

On Wednesday, September 21, 2016, twenty-four traffic officers from various law enforcement agencies throughout San Mateo County will be participating in the San Mateo County Saturation Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP). The STEP program is a collaborative effort to increase traffic safety and awareness in known trouble spots throughout San Mateo County.

Tomorrow’s deployment will occur in Atherton and Menlo Park between the hours of 6:00 am and 4:00 pm. The focus of this education and enforcement campaign is traffic safety. Furthermore, several officers will be assigned to assist the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office (Transit Bureau) to monitor safety violations at railroad crossings in San Mateo County.

This is the ninth deployment in a number of planned multi-agency saturation deployments scheduled to be performed throughout San Mateo County in 2016. Atherton and Menlo Park residents may notice that there are police officers from throughout San Mateo County enforcing safety violations in their respective communities.
