By the calendar it’s winter, but Windy Hill Open Space is in spring bloom

InMenlo contributing photographer Betsy Sergeant Snow hiked up Windy Hill Open Space Preserve last week, the first outing for her at one of the Peninsula’s favorite open spaces.

She emails: “We did the whole loop, and those white blooms are cherry blossoms in the parking lot :).

“I loved the view of the ocean from the top. We did cross Skyline to take few photos of the ocean beyond the rolling hills and mustard.”

Windy Hill trails are accessed from two Portola Valley locations. There’s a large parking lot on Portola Road with room for 25 vehicles; a smaller pullout area is near the intersection of Willowbrook and Alpine. Windy is one of the few local preserves that allows leashed dogs on most of its trails.
