M-A baseball coach David Klein is PCA top 50 “Double Goal Coach”

by Linda Hubbard on March 7, 2018

Menlo-Atherton High School head baseball coach — and M-A alumnus — David Klein has been named a 2018 Double Goal Coach national winner by the Positive Coaching Alliance.

David tells us that while the award lists Legends Baseball Academy, a program of the Menlo Park Legends, which he founded and serves a Managing Director of, he doesn’t know who submitted his name — and hopes that the award is for both his work at the school and the Academy.

“This award means a lot to me,” he said. “I left a successful medical device career in 2014 to dedicate my life to building well-rounded athletes. Getting some validation and recognition for my efforts is a great feeling as most kids don’t realize how much they are learning about life until later on. It’s often years down the road when players come back and thank me.”

The 50 National Winners who were selected from nearly 800 nominations nationwide. Each will each receive a $200 check, certificate from PCA, recognition on PCA’s website, newsletters and media campaigns and an invitation with guest to PCA’s National Youth Sports Awards & Benefit on April 28th at Stanford’s Maples Pavilion.

Four of these winners will be selected to win an all expenses paid trip with guest to California [if from out of state] for the event and be welcomed on stage for a panel discussion. Update on March 8: We just found out that Coach Klein has been selected to be one of the panelists — although his journey from Menlo Park to the Stanford campus is more an all-expense trip down the street!
