Stanford Professor Karen Offen is First Friday speaker on Oct. 5

In the maelstrom of news surrounding the #MeToo movement, gender diversity in technology, the drive to place more women in the C-suite and boardroom — and even in the discussion around Supreme Court nominations — the topic of women’s empowerment is front and center. And it has never been louder. At this important moment in time, it’s helpful to understand the roots of feminist thought and activism.
Stanford Professor — and Woodside resident — Karen Offen is one of the world’s foremost authorities on the subject. In addition to publishing seven books on family, gender and the relative status of women, she also founded an international organization for research in women’s history.
Karen will be the featured speaker this Friday, October 5, at 7:00 pm at the Woodside Arts and Culture Committee’s “First Friday” — a monthly event at the Woodside Town Hall. Karen will be in conversation with Lisa Keith, a member of the Woodside Arts and Culture Committee. Free admission and complimentary refreshments.
