Blue ribbons adorn trees/fences to cheer on hospital workers

One block of Stanford Ave. in the University Heights neighborhood is sporting blue ribbons in a number of front yards, a gesture started by one resident who bought enough supplies for six homes and prefers to stay anonymous. Purchased from an Amazon merchant, GiftWrap.Etc, he’s hoping others will jump on the idea.

“They’re colorful, inexpensive and easy to set up,” he says. “If everyone got behind this it could be awesome, especially on the streets where hospital staff bike to work.”

The ribbons are part of national movement to show support for health care workers and first responders during the coronavirus pandemic.

And another thing to spot in addition to teddy bears and rocks with encouraging messages when out walking!
