Local poet Charlotte Muse is leading youth poetry workshops at Menlo Park Library

by Linda Hubbard on April 8, 2024

Local poet Charlotte Muse will be teaching four workshops for the Menlo Park Youth Poetry Voices program at the Menlo Park Library.  Kids of all ages can write a poem and then submit it to the Youth Poetry Exhibition.

Emails Charlotte: “I’ve asked people to bring a blindfold. (I’ll have plenty of extras).  I won’t tell them why until they get there.  Also, since the youngest grades might need a little help writing down their thoughts — even adults can’t always write fast enough to keep up with their visions— I’ve asked grownups to stay and assist with that age group.

“If there’s a young person in your family who’s interested in, or would like to try, creative writing, bring or send them to the Menlo Park Library this week! No experience necessary, everyone welcome.”

Below is the workshop schedule, according to age group:

Grades 1-2:  Wed., April 10, 4—4:45 p.m. *

Grades 3-5:   Fri.,  April 12,   4—5:00 p.m.

Grades  6-8:  Sat., April 13,   1:30—2:30 p.m.

Grades 9-12:  Sat., April 13,   3:30 —4:30 p.m.

*Grownups are asked to stay and assist your child during this age group workshop.
