Webb Ranch opens its summer berry picking season

The calendar may have decreed summer started yesterday (June 20), but we’re partial to declaring “summer is here” when U-pick berries opens at Webb Ranch in Portola Valley (2720 Alpine Road).
The first U-pick of the season is Saturday, June 22, from 8:00 to 11:00 am, with Saturday openings expected through the end of July. No reservations necessary. Come early for best selection.
Available currently are Obsidian blackberries, Prime-Ark blackberries and olallieberries. Navaho blackberries and Marionberries will be available in a couple of week.
Entrance fee is $4.00 per person (ages 2 and under free). U-pick berries are $6.50 per pound.
A word for first time pickers: Berries do not ripen after being picked, unlike other fruit. Do not pick red/unripe berries.
