Ladera celebrates 4th of July with full day of activities

The Ladera community had a full day of activities on the 4th of July starting with celebrating the 50th annual Pool to Pasture Run, a 2.5 mile circuit that goes through Ladera and the neighboring Webb Ranch (top photo).

The race was renamed this year as the Gail Prickett Pool to Pasture Run in honor of the man who has been organizing it for the last 45(!) years. He was honored with a plaque that will be located at the race start. The run had categories for little kids all the way to 80+, fastest dogs, stroller runners, and twice around the route. The prizes for the winners were watermelons.

The day also included a decorated bike parade, greased watermelon competitions, pool games, relay races, field games, and an evening BBQ with music by the Windy Hill bluegrass band.
