Photographer Klaus Porzig has a passion for creating beautiful color prints

by Jeanne Gadol on July 9, 2024

After a long and rewarding career as a medical oncologist, Ladera resident Klaus Porzig returned to his pre-medical school hobby of creating and printing photographs. His retirement in 2008 was perfectly timed for stepping into the new world of digital photography, allowing him to create beautiful color prints from his images.

Klaus fully embraced this new form of photography by learning the digital workflow of capturing images with a digital camera, developing them in Photoshop and then printing them on an inkjet printer. He continues to finetune all of these skills and to keep up with this quickly improving technology through a variety of workshops and classes.

Unlike many photographers, Klaus enjoys developing and printing his images as much as he does the actual photographing. His goal is to create prints that illustrate the inspiration he felt when seeing the subject through his camera’s viewfinder.

Klaus is primarily drawn to photographing the natural world especially large landscapes and intimate scenes. While hiking in the mountains and along the coastline of California is a lifelong source of inspiration and beauty, his travels throughout the world have provided unique photographic opportunities and an appreciation for the great diversity of the natural world.

You can see more of his work on his website.
