Side of the Woods offers clothing to wear on a walk in the woods
You might say a walk in the woods led Woodside resident Jennie Aburish to launch the online store, Side of the Woods. That first hike in Wunderlich Park in 2019 led to buying a house near Alice’s Restaurant in 2020.
“Now we have two kids and a dog and love being out and about in our community amidst the banana slugs and newts,” she says.
Finding herself no longer in tech, Jennie explored the idea of a clothing store, starting with high quality t-shirts. “My husband is a bit fussy about his t-shirts, wanting them soft and with little shrinkage when washed. So the first thing I did was order a dozen shirts from different companies.”
Settling on one supplier, she hired an artist to create the embroderied images for the five shirts currently for sale, some in short and long sleeve versions. She plans to add hats and socks in the coming months.
Jennie has had great support from friends and family but recalls the thrill of getting an order from someone she didn’t know.
“The area we live in is so magical and pretty,” she says. “The t-shirts are a good complement.”
