Together is the theme of The Main Gallery exhibit through September 8

Emails Monica Waldman: “As The Main Gallery prepares to celebrate another year in Menlo Park and our anniversary, we are reminded that our members work together to create cohesive shows. With our newest show, Together, we want to highlight our installation team’s efforts to work together, bringing out the best in each member’s work.
“Installation team leads Katinka Hartmetz (2 dimensional work — 2D) and Ed Bellinger (3 dimensional work — 3D) collaborate with their teams to hang and display each show.
“Katinka describes the process as solving a puzzle made of random pieces with no box top to reference. Our artists bring in their new work at the end of the prior show then she and her crew select a set which will work well together. They arrange and rearrange them iteratively, adding and removing pieces through a hectic day-long effort.
“Meanwhile, Ed and his crew coordinate with them to select among and arrange the 3D work among the 2D displays, creating synergy throughout the gallery. Before calling it a day the Installation Team needs to ensure the 2D artwork and labels are hung straight and spaced correctly and the same for 3D work.”
The reception for Together artists is Friday, August 9, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm; the Gallery is located at 883 Santa Cruz Avenue.
