Jan Prisco is featured artist at Portola Art Gallery in November

“Ebb and Flow” — paintings by artist Jan Prisco is the featured exhibit at Portola Art Gallery in November. It highlights landscapes, wavescapes, and seascapes inspired by local Peninsula locations, using oil and pastel. A reception for the artist will be held on Saturday, November 9, from 1:00 – 4:00 pm.
During the Covid pandemic, Jan spent time in Half Moon Bay and other locations studying the movement of the ocean waves and taking photos for future paintings. Since then, wavescapes have become a subject she has painted extensively and has enjoyed sharing with others who love both the drama and healing power of the sea.
Jan’s exhibit will include a number of small works which she hopes will appeal to collectors who are currently on a budget or buying for their loved ones as holiday gifts.
In addition to exhibiting her work at the Portola Art Gallery, Jan has taught pastel painting for many years. She currently teaches at the Pacific Art League and has taught plein air workshops for Filoli, as well as studio classes for the Atherton Arts Foundation and University Art.
The Portola Art Gallery is located within the Allied Arts Guild, 75 Arbor Road, Menlo Park. It is open 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Saturday.
