Jennifer Bohnen named new Head of School at Phillips Brooks

The Phillips Brooks School (PBS) Board of Trustees announced the appointment of Jennifer Bohnen as the new Head of School, effective July 1, 2025. Following an extensive national search, Jennifer was unanimously selected by the Board, a testament to the strong support within the PBS community.

Jennifer brings more than 25 years of experience as an educator, administrator, and leader. She currently serves as the Head of School at Green Hedges School, a preschool through grade 8 day school in suburban Washington, D.C. Jennifer is known for her dedication to fostering inclusive, academically rigorous, and socially supportive school environments.

Originally from Sonoma County, California, Jennifer holds a bachelor’s degree from Northern Arizona University and a Master of Arts and EdS in Educational Leadership from George Washington University. She was also a Klingenstein Fellow at Teachers College, Columbia University.

Jennifer expressed her own enthusiasm about joining PBS, saying, “I am deeply honored and thrilled to become part of Phillips Brooks School, a community I have long admired. The School’s mission —‘to inspire students to love learning, to develop a spiritual nature, to
communicate effectively, to be kind to others, and to respect the uniqueness of each person’ — is closely aligned with my own values. I am excited to support and champion these principles in the years to come.”
