Middle Grade Book Group discusses The Insiders on December 21

The Menlo Park Library has a brand-new book group — just for kids ages 6-12!

Every month the facilitator will choose a chapter book whose publisher-assigned age rating is between 8 and 12.

On Saturday, December 21, from 4:30 to 5:30pm, come to the Menlo Park Library (800 Alma St.) to discuss this month’s book, The Insiders, by Mark Oshiro.

A synopsis: Héctor Muñoz isn’t having a great time at his new school. There’s no drama club, and he’s being targeted by bullies. He unexpectedly finds refuge in a janitor’s closet, which turns out to be a magical portal. There he meets Juliana and Sal, other outsiders from across space and time. While the portal offers support and friendship, the three of them can’t hide forever from the problems they each face in their own realities.

Middle Grade Book Group meets in person on the 3rd Saturday of each month.
