Sam McDonald History Hike set for February 22

Sam McDonald Park (13435 Pescadero Creek Road, Loma Mar) was named after Sam (Emanuel) McDonald, descendent of enslaved persons. From 1917 until his death in 1957, he acquired more than 400 acres which he bequeathed for public use.
On Saturday, February 22 from 10:00 to noon, participate in a hike will pass his former home — a two room cabin — which still stands today.
This Approximately four mile hike is on a trail with strenuous ups and downs.
Along the way, discuss Sam McDonald, the legacy of African American land conservation, and his history at Stanford University.
Please note: Heavy rain will cancel this event.
