The 2025 San Mateo County STEM Fair was held earlier this month, and a number of students who live in InMenlo’s coverage area (Atherton, Menlo Par, Portola Valley and Woods) were awarded First Place in their respective categories.

They included three from Corte Madera, one from Nativity, three from Woodside Elementary, and one from Sacred Heart Schools.

Pictured from left to right are three First Place winners from Synapse School:  Joshua Burke (8th grade), Anna Beasley (8th grade),  and Vir Rao (7th grade).

Joshua and Anna  won in the Behavioral Sciences category with Mindsets in Math.

Vir’s project, Climate Showdown: Greenhouse Gasses or Sea Ice Melt, Who is the Bigger Offender?, won in the Earth, Space and Environmental Sciences category.

These students will be advancing to the California Science and Engineering Fair in April in Los Angeles, as well as the national Thermo Fisher Scientific Junior Innovators Challenge.

Here’s a list of the students who took part along with the results.
