Free resources available about safe walking and biking to school

The City of Menlo Park Safe Routes to School Program creates educational resources on active and sustainable transportation for parents, students, caregivers and educators.
Visit the SRTS website to find multiple programming and safety resources.
Some example resources include:
- The Walk and Roll Bingo Card(PDF, 90KB) and Activity Book(PDF, 1MB) offers games and quizzes on active transportation to engage students and children.
- The Readiness Checklist(PDF, 94KB) helps parents and caregivers determine if their child is ready to walk or bike to school.
- The Walk and Roll Toolkit(PDF, 597KB) is a guide for volunteers and community members to plan events that promote walking and rolling to school.
- Most recently, the SRTS team developed a Safety Handbook(PDF, 2MB) that includes many graphics and illustrations to teach the rules of the roads and tips for safe walking and biking.
For this Earth Month, consider walking or biking to your destinations as a way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants. Walking and biking has many benefits including increased physical exercise, connect with your community on foot and bike and an opportunity for families to connect!
