Create your superhero self portrait on April 8

On Tuesday, April 8 from 5:30 to 7:30 pm, come to the Belle Haven Library (100 Terminal Ave.) for a workshop where you are the superhero! This event is for ages 9 to adult.

During this special session with artist Ajuan Mance, you’ll create a one-page comic portrait of yourself as a hero. We begin with the process of identifying your superpowers, narrowing down those talents, abilities, and unique qualities that have enabled you to help yourself and others. Then design your costume, including any special tools you might need to carry out your superhero tasks.

The final portrait will be a comic broadside that introduces your superhero self, including your superpowers, the unique features of your costume, and your superhero name.

There is no preregistration for this event, but supplies are limited. Free tickets will be available at All-Ages Library desk 30 minutes before starting time.

This free event is part of the 2025 Peninsula Libraries Comic Arts Fest, taking place during the month of April at city and county libraries throughout San Mateo County.
