Menlo Park accepts $3M in sustainability, housing and mobility grants

On April 15, 2025, the Menlo Park City Council adopted two resolutions accepting over $3 million in competitive funding from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) to advance climate action, housing initiatives and community mobility. The awards resulted from collaboration between the City’s Engineering, Housing, Planning, Sustainability and Transportation teams to submit the applications last year.

The grants include:

• $2.3 million to install publicly accessible electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at City Hall and downtown parking lots 7 and 8
• $850,000 for local planning initiatives focused on housing policy development, parking management and improved multimodal access near the Menlo Park Caltrain station
• $500,000 in a joint grant awarded to Menlo Park and six other cities in San Mateo County to collaboratively enhance affordable housing strategies

The funding will directly support Menlo Park’s Climate Action Plan, Housing Element, Complete Streets Policy, Transportation Master Plan and Vision Zero Action Plan by expanding access to sustainable transportation to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and improve air quality.
