Cliff Swallows are nesting at Bedwell Bayfront Park
Emails Chris Macintosh: “I wonder if InMenlo readers might enjoy visiting Bedwell Bayfront Park as the Cliff Swallows are busy nesting under the eaves of the little rec pump house by the entrance.
“The birds started building their mud nests in early April. There was then a pause. We’re not sure if someone tried to remove the nests or what. Fortunately for the past week they have been super-busy.
“As you know, Flood Slough, just across the park’s entrance road, is the perfect source for mud for their nests. Muddy bit by laborious muddy bit, the nests are built onto the pump house.
“Most nests are completed so birds may be incubating. There is still a lot of coming and going and calling. This will continue for several weeks, especially as harassed parents need to feed their growing young.”
