“Nature’s Wonders: Our National and State Parks” — photographs by Larry Calof that capture the beauty of our protected wilderness — is the featured exhibit in June at the Portola Art Gallery.
A reception for the artist will be held on Saturday, June 14, from 1:00 to 4:00 pm.

“I have always enjoyed spending time observing and photographing our natural world,” says Larry. “I have put together a collection of images from some of my favorite travels to our national and state parks over the years. I hope these images bring back both visual memories and recollections of stories experienced while enjoying these treasured locations.”

After a successful 30-year career in corporate and securities law, Larry rediscovered his passion for photography. He explains: “I love using natural light and high-quality digital equipment to capture wildlife and landscape images in distinct manners that illuminate their unique characteristics. I try to find an emotional connection with my wildlife subjects. In my landscape photography, I look for light and angles to add magical or mystical perspectives to my images.”

Larry has exhibited and received awards at various local juried art shows, including Los Altos Rotary’s Art in the Park, Filoli, Pacific Art League, and the California Land Trust Gallery.

The Portola Art Gallery is located within theAllied Arts Guild, 75 Arbor Road, Menlo Park. Hours are Monday to Saturday from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm.

“Schwabacher’s Landing (Grand Tetons), 16×32” archival aluminum print is one of the photos in Larry Calof’s June exhibit
