African Village celebration with Baba Shibambo takes place on July 13

On Sunday, July 13, 2025 from 11:00 to 11:45 am, come to the Belle Haven Library (100 Terminal Ave.), to join Baba Shibambo for a fun, interactive, hands-on musical experience!
He will play music on traditional African instruments. You will hear an authentic ZULU folktale set to music — and get a chance to learn traditional African dance moves.
Baba Shibambo is a master hand drummer, international touring performer, and recording artist. He is Zulu, born in South Africa during the Apartheid era. Shibambo began playing traditional African drums as a boy, and eventually came to tour internationally with South African musical and theatrical productions, even playing for Nelson Mandela. He is a multi-instrumentalist, playing percussion, African djembe, uudu, conga, marimba, mbira (kalimba or finger piano), and Bushman’s bow.
This free event received funding support from the Friends of the Menlo Park Library.
