Menlo Park resident Alice Weil is featured artist at Portola Art Gallery in August

“Whispers of Bloom” — paintings by Menlo Park artist Alice Weil — is featured in August at the Portola Art Gallery. A reception for the artist will be held on Saturday, August 9, from 1:00 – 4:00 pm.

Alice will also be available to meet and discuss her work on Thursday, August 21, from 11:00 am. to 4:00 pm — and by appointment.

This dynamic new collection of paintings is a departure from Alice’s traditional landscape and still life paintings. The new body of work uses loose, impressionistic brushwork suggesting the lightness of blossoms flowing over the canvas. She hopes that the viewer experiences her artwork in quiet reflection, relaxing the eye and opening up the paintings through his or her imagination and contemplation.

Alice was born in San Francisco; she was exposed to art and inspired by a close family friend and neighbor. She recalls” “To this day, the smell of turpentine, linseed oil, and paint sweeps me back to a studio in the hills of Redwood City. Who knows what sparks a lifetime artistic journey?”

Alice has participated in many group and solo exhibits, winning numerous awards. Her paintings can be found in private collections throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe. More information is available online.

The Portola Art Gallery exhibits high quality, representational art by 22 award-winning Bay Area artists. Lcated at the historic Allied Arts Guild in Menlo Park (75 Arbor Rd.), the Gallery is open Monday through Saturday, 10:00 am-5:00 pm.
