Middle Grade Book Group discusses “It’s Boba Time for Pearl Li” on August 23

On Saturday, August 23, 2025  from 4:00 to 5:30 pm, the Middle Grade Book Club discusses  It’s Boba Time for Pearl Li by Menlo Park resident Nicole Chen—and meets Nicole in-person for a visit and some fun activities! Register online.

Pearl Li’s favorite things are Boba Time, its owner Auntie Cha, and crochet — specifically amigurumi, which has been her passion ever since learning about it at a café in Taipei.

But her techie startup parents want her to pursue coding, and now a flashy new Taiwanese dessert chain is threatening the existence of Boba Time.

Middle Grade Book Group — for ages 8 to 12 — meets in person on the 3rd Saturday of each month. This month’s event is on a special date and time so that we can meet Nicole Chen!
