Run Club member Mira Doshi wins Cottonwood CA USATF meet championship
Emails Run Club Coach Scott Paterson:
Run Club Menlo Park runner, Mira Doshi (right) of Menlo Park and Sacred Heart Schools, won the Cottonwood CA USATF meet championship last Sunday. After handling a very fast start, she settled in on the shoulder of the race leader (and 2X USATF Pacific Association Junior Olympics champion) letting her pace the runners through the early parts of the course.
After coming up and over the main hill, Mira knew she didn’t want to let the race come down to a kick finish, so she made a bold and smart move with 600 meters to go pushing hard all the way to the finish to open an 11 second gap between her and the second place runner. Mira improved her time on this 3000 meter course by 1.5 minutes compared to last year.
Vega Useche (left – just 10 racing against the 12’s) finished only 25 seconds behind in 5th place. Avi Doshi (middle) is Run Club’s first ever 6-year-old to race and he placed 8th against the 8 year olds.
