Atherton Charter City Kickoff Workshop planned for January 29

On January 29, 2026,  from 6:00 to 7:30 pm, the town of Atherton will be
exploring whether becoming a Charter City would provide greater local control over municipal affairs such as governance, elections, contracting, land use, and public finance, within the limits of the California Constitution.

The meeting takes place at the Town Center (80 Fair Oaks Lane).

A charter functions as a local constitution. It establishes the framework for governance and confirms the Town’s authority over municipal affairs while preserving all powers available under general law.
